Establishing Database System of ECOSOC Rights Monitoring

A one week in-house concultancy and workshop, 17-24 September 2011, held in SKP office to set the system. All of staff involved to reactivate intranet (LAN) facilities, installing a modified module of transfering data via cellular phones, exercising standard operation procedurs for entry and managing the data internally, and using the codified data for different purposes. One of the results is SORAK on-line edition that you have reading now.
All of the processes facilitated by Roem Topatimasang and Joeni Hartanto (and Yudhi Kusnanto before) from INSIST, a national network of CSOs based in Yogyakarta who have facilitating SKP-KAME and other SKPs of Papua since 2007. The facilitators said that the system –mixing the advantage of information technology, participatory research methodology, and citizen journalism techniques– is not perfect yet, still need to be developed and improved further but, in term of recent need of SKP-KAME, it was adequate enough. The key point is how to maintain and optimize, and it is really depend on the most important ‘software’ (human resources) of SKP-KAME to strictly ‘obey the basic rules’: discipline, hardwork, curiosity, and passion.**(HW).
