Church Community Council of Yanggandur Village have disbursed IDR 15 millions (USD 1,660) to rent a truck for transporting construction materials of new village church. We have intentionally rent the truck from the Head of Village in order to contribute additional revenues for our own village development fund. In fact, just few days only, the Head of Village terminated the cooperation. We have also disbursed to him IDR 13 millions (USD 13,440) to procure wooden materials but, in fact, the woods not delivered until today. So, we have involved in a serious dispute with him, even he have physically beaten me. Finally, we have disbursed other IDR 70 millions (USD 17,880) to directly bought wooden materials in Merauke Town. Now, the construction of our new village church was accomplished.

Lack of Fund, Village Church Innaugraton Delayed
Initially, the innaugration of new church in Tomer Village will be held in last August. Due to the lack of fund, finally, the event was postponed. The building itself is not totally accomplish, especially its interior parts. Some furnitures and assesories not completed yet. Its windows also not covered up. When windy rain came, inside hall of the church became wet. The mason and carpenter who did the construction told me that its foundation not deep enough, so , need some additional columns and slabs surround. May district government can help?
There are about 100 people of 20 families in this village who have officially registered as Catholics. Many of them not receive yet any sacraments. Last time the priest came to this village is in July 2011. I myself just appointed as chairperson of local parish. Frankly, I do not kow precisely how to lead a mass. Before, I I just play guitar in the mass. Recently, one of parish member passed away and, no choices, I should lead the mass for his funeral. Hope that our priest can provide me a sgort training on this matter.

Children Have No School

Some of school-age children of Nggolar who have not attending any schools until today (Fr.Fajar, SVD)
There are about 60 school-age children in our Village of Nggolar I who have not enrolled into school. Beside the fact that there is no school building here, the children also have no birth certificates as one of basic requirement to enter the school. The certificate can be provided only when the children have already baptized and their parents have marriage document. The problem is they have no such documents yet. But how to get it when our parish priest never came? So, our children never attending school until today.

Company Build Church in the Village
After Domande Village, one of the big investors in Merauke area today, PT Rajawali Corp. now expanding their forest concession area to Onggari Village. They said to Onggari people that they want to build a new Catholic Church in the village. I think the company have a goodwill and we must thank to God for that kindness. However, I proposed one condition that the company signing up a written statement that the conctruction is a sincere and honest donation to the people. I must do it to avoid any unexpected consequencies in the future if any disputes happened between villagers and the company.
